Anything Goes Mode: If It Exists, It Has Macros

Oct 23, 2026

Hey there, adventurous eaters!

Calorik is a small team, and the App Store is a crowded place. A lot of apps get attention with thirst traps and gym selfies. We'd rather earn it by making you laugh. Logging is a habit, and habits stick when they're fun. So this month, we taught Calorik to take anything seriously. If you can log lettuce, why not a pinecone?

โœณ๏ธ Anything Goes Mode

  • Scan anything: Snap a sneaker, a houseplant or a rubber duck, or just type "a tennis ball." Calorik gives it a completely straight-faced breakdown based on what it's made of: calories, protein, carbs and fat. A rubber duck has calories too, if you were wondering.

  • Always marked: An asterisk sits next to the meal and each item that isn't food. Tap it for a quick explanation and a shortcut to the setting. With meal reactions on, the reaction plays along with a perfectly straight face, then adds one honest line: "Seriously though, don't eat this."

  • Your call: New to Calorik? It's on from your very first meal. Already here? Turn it on in Settings, or tap "Turn on Anything Goes Mode" when Calorik tells you it didn't spot any food. Novelty meals count toward your daily totals like any other meal, so delete the houseplant if you'd rather it didn't. Prefer a 100% edible log? Leave it off, and anything that isn't food stays out.

๐ŸŽฌ See it in action: we gave the influencer "fiber hack" a try with a barkuterie board of bark, pinecones and grass. Our advice: leave it to the squirrels.

๐Ÿ“ธ Zoom and macro close-ups. Pinch to zoom up to 15ร—, or tap the lens buttons on supported iPhones to jump between zoom levels, just like the Camera app. On iPhones that support macro photography, the camera switches to the macro lens on its own when you get close, so nutrition labels come out sharp.

๐Ÿ”  Text that grows with you. Set a larger text size on your iPhone and Calorik follows it, with layouts that rearrange to stay readable at the biggest sizes.

๐Ÿœ Fixes and polish. A round of fixes and polish across the app.

If it makes you laugh, send it to a friend. That's how apps like ours get found.
